When your company needs new engineers, it is important that you thoroughly evaluate each applicant to find the right set of people. Sometimes, for large companies, when they see a huge potential on an engineer they will go beyond and create a position for that person. This only shows the company sees the applicant has something great to offer which is why they will gladly invest on him. When interviewing an applicant, do not simply rely on the long list of bullet-point qualifications, instead, ask about how they have acquired these skills and allow them to cite situations and previous experiences where these said skills are put into good use. Employee referrals are also important as you can ask more about the applicant through your employee, this way you will not need to rely alone on the 45-minute interview you conduct.
