A Note on Diindolylmethane

In recent years, there have been developments that have resulted in finding a cure for several incurable, one of which being cancer. Of course, we can all go on about the mystery of why the common cold belongs to this list of incurable diseases but what has been making the news off late is the discovery of the compound DIM.

While there are people in the medical community who might be excited about these developments, there are an equal number of naysayers that might consider this discovery to be a passing fad. However, nothing can be further from the truth as this discovery has been due to the efforts of UC Berkeley scientists for almost two decades now.

To put it simply, Diindolylmethane has been found (and extracted) from the Brassica family of vegetables including popular names such as cabbage, cauliflower, kale and broccoli and so on and so forth.

According to the scientists at UC Berkeley, this compound is one of the most versatile compounds known to man in the field of molecular biology for the number of medicinal properties that it offers.

One, as mentioned earlier, is the direct anti-cancer properties that it exhibits, and is being tested as an alternative form of treatment for all kinds of cancer by the National Cancer Institute while also being used along with Taxol to treat cancer patients, and to check for the effectiveness of this combined form of treatment.

If that’s not enough, it is also offered as a supplement which works both as a cancer prevention diet as well as a natural immune booster as well.

With the positive results garnered so far, this will give people around the world the hope that the disease that they are suffering with can be cured, much sooner than later.
